RRB Group D Recruitment 2026: Notification Update
The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is gearing up to release one of the most awaited job notifications of the year—the RRB Group D Recruitment 2026. With over 1 lakh expected vacancies across various railway zones, this is a golden opportunity for 10th-pass candidates seeking a secure government job in Indian Railways.
While the official notification is expected to drop soon, candidates are advised to start their preparation early as the competition will be extremely high.
Expected Important Dates
- Official Notification Release: Expected in August/September 2026

- Last Date to Apply: 30 Days from notification release
- Admit Card Release: 10 days before the exam

Eligibility Criteria & Age Limit
Before applying, candidates must ensure they meet the basic eligibility criteria set by the Railway Recruitment Board:
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed 10th Class (Matriculation) from an institution recognized by NCVT/SCVT or hold an ITI/National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC).
- Age Limit: The minimum age is 18 years, and the maximum age is generally 33 years. (Age relaxation applies as per government rules: 3 years for OBC, 5 years for SC/ST).
Application Fee
- General / OBC Candidates: ₹500/- (₹400 will be refunded after appearing in CBT 1)
- SC / ST / Ex-Servicemen / Female: ₹250/- (Fully refunded after appearing in CBT 1)
RRB Group D Selection Process & Exam Pattern
The selection process consists of four major stages. The Computer Based Test (CBT) is the most crucial stage. The CBT consists of 100 multiple-choice questions to be solved in 90 minutes.
- General Science: 25 Questions (25 Marks)
- Mathematics: 25 Questions (25 Marks)
- General Intelligence & Reasoning: 30 Questions (30 Marks)
- General Awareness & Current Affairs: 20 Questions (20 Marks)
Note: There is a negative marking of 1/3 marks for every incorrect answer.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Candidates who clear the CBT will be called for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). The PET criteria are different for male and female candidates:
- Male Candidates: Should be able to lift and carry 35 kg of weight for a distance of 100 meters in 2 minutes without putting it down. Also, run for a distance of 1000 meters in 4 minutes and 15 seconds.
- Female Candidates: Should be able to lift and carry 20 kg of weight for a distance of 100 meters in 2 minutes. Also, run for a distance of 1000 meters in 5 minutes and 40 seconds.
